PBS — Retrieval Augmented Generation
Contribution: Art Direction, Design, Animation, Copywriting, Sound Design.
While working on the PBS Innovation team, I was assigned with creating a video that would aid in explaining RAG, or Retrieval Augmented Generation, across different departments in the company. I worked with the team’s software engineers to come up with a script which I turned into a storyboard to illustrate this process. I then created a rudimentary animatic with voiceover to test with a handful of coworkers in various departments to see if the information in the video was understandable to a general audience. Luckily, the animatic was a success, which allowed me to execute a final version.
Process
Moodboard
My creative process usually begins with sifting through other successful motion projects and taking inspiration from them. For this project, knowing the PBS brand, I focused on explainer videos that had a clean, minimalistic, aesthetic & whose content relayed education and trust with its viewer.
Storyboards
After finalizing a moodboard & creating style frames that the team & other stakeholders were happy with, I moved on to transforming the script into storyboards. I usually keep my storyboards rough - focusing mostly on imagery & composition which makes it easy to iterate.
